Remember When
While I have only been a Malta resident for the past 5 years, I lived only yards from the Malta town line for 20 years, and have been a frequent visitor and supporter for the past 70 years.I remember when the Northway was under construction and traveling up RT 9 into Malta to visit the amusement park at Browns Beach with my parents. Malta was busy, the line of cars made their way into The Luther Forest (Dunning Street) as we became excited with a view of Saratoga Lake ahead of us. We knew we were close to friends and relatives in the camps just before Brown's Beach, and were in for an afternoon of family fun. At the end of the day we would always stop at the intersection of 9 & 67, for a quick treat and an ice cream cone before returning home to Schenectady.
My teen years were spent at the Saratoga Speedway, the Malta Drive-In, the Swimming Pool Casino, Brown's Beach, and Mangino's Restaurant. I watched Malta grow and enjoyed the town for many years, and now I want to give back what it gave to me. Great memories and opportunities.
